She Had A Seizure On My Kitchen Floor
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 08:03:08 AM PDT
(written 6/6)Today was a good day. I got a lot of kitchen cleaning done, and a clean kitchen always makes me want to cook something, especially a recipe I hadn’t tried before. Tonight, I fancied a doughnut. So therefore, I made yeast doughnuts. I figured my brother (who lives with my husband and I) would come home about the time they were done. He’s got an instinct for freshly baked homemade stuff.
He and his girlfriend had been out. She lives three hours away, and drives over on her days off. So they’ve been pretty much either secluded in his room or gone this weekend. They came in, he got the food I’d saved for him and was eating it, and she sat down on the kitchen floor and ate a cheese-filled garlic breadstick left from dinner. "My God, Alex, I want to marry you," she said, laughing. "Hey, John, I’m leaving you for Alex, cause she makes these...."
Looming Decision (non-candidate diary)
Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:57:04 PM PDT
Every day, my husband and I have an uncomfortable decision looming over us. No, it’s not who to vote for in Indiana’s primary...we’re both decided on that. It’s not whether or not to put the air conditioner in the bedroom window again....we agreed March in Indiana is way too early. It’s not even what we’re going to have for dinner, because that’s my problem and he’ll eat whatever I put in front of him.
My husband does roadside assistance for Triple A Motor Club in Indianapolis and its surrounding counties. He loves his job. The work is physical but not overly exhausting (most of the time), it varies from day to day, but he knows that since "roadside assistance" doesn’t involve heavy recovery, he knows that it will be within certain parameters. He’s proud of his skill opening car doors, and towing cars, even towing them when they have serious suspension issues that many drivers would consider beyond their skills. He’s got defined hours, working a standard second shift. Sure, he doesn’t get along with all his coworkers, and sometimes he has to change stubborn tires in the pouring rain, but that’s life, and as he is fond of saying, everyone’s life has a Monday morning in it.
IN-06: Debate between Pence and Welsh
Mon Oct 30, 2006 at 06:25:28 PM PDT
Tonight was the debate between Mike Pence and
Barry Welsh. I went so that I could report back on how it went to everyone here. I apologize for not having a digital camera and hence not being able to post pics or video. It will, however, be rebroadcast between now and the election on WIPB 49, the Muncie public television station.
This is my first diary, so be kind to me...I've always been too intimidated to post here before.
